Our Upholstery Fabrics

Upholstery fabrics with greater thread counts contain more threads per square inch, which means they will last longer and wear better. Our beautiful range of fabrics, here at Desser, not only have a high thread count, but they also are available in different patterns, colours, and grades.

What do the grades in upholstery fabric mean?

Most furniture manufacturers who upholster their own furniture will have their own classification of fabric grades with grade A being the least expensive and ranging up to a more expensive F grade. Our fabric grades vary from B to D, depending on your level of need and expectancy from the fabric.

How to choose upholstery fabric for furniture?

Choosing a fabric to suit your living room or conservatory can seem daunting, particularly when there are many options to choose from, but hopefully, once you understand what you need from the fabric, it should narrow down your options.

B Grade Fabrics – Mainly features our plain fabrics that are machine washable at 30° and a low spin, perfect for a quick refresh every few months. This grade also contains some velvet and floral fabrics which we recommend dry cleaning for best results. The B grade fabrics still have a very high thread count and quality rating so will look good for many years to come. As a company, we decided to stop stocking A grades to ensure we are only providing the best materials for our customers, that also are long-lasting.

C Grade Fabrics – Our C grade fabrics are slightly better quality than the B grade, and are a blend of different types of yarn, from polyester, cotton and more. This makes for a breathable fabric that is also long-lasting, it also means the material is less prone to pilling and fading which works great in a conservatory where you are more exposed to sunlight and heat. These luxury fabrics can only be dry cleaned for the best results.

Aquaclean Fabric (D Grade)

Our D grade fabrics are a revolutionary fabric by Aquaclean that has been specially treated to allow you to clean stains using only water. Our Aquaclean fabric is also protected with Safe Front®, which is a powerful permanent barrier against viruses and bacteria. It works incredibly well alongside Aquaclean as this also limits the penetration of viruses and bacteria into the fabric.

How to clean Aquaclean fabric?

You can easily clean Aquaclean fabrics in three easy steps!

Step 1: Remove any excess residue on the upholstery
Step 2: Apply water over the stain, either directly or using a damp cloth. Wait a few seconds.
Step 3: Press down over the stain with a damp cloth and rub gently over the fabric in circular movements. If the stain does not come off completely, repeat the process as required.
