How To Throw A Dinner Party In Style

Whether you’re celebrating a special occasion or you just want to gather your friends around the table for a great night, throwing a dinner party is a wonderful treat for everyone. Friends, drink, delicious food and good conversation are the keys to a successful dinner party.  So, if you want to be the perfect host, here are some tips on how to throw a dinner party in style:

Draft a Diverse Guest List

A dinner party is a great excuse to bring together friends that may not necessarily know each other that well. Invite friends of all ages and backgrounds for a fabulous celebration that’s sure to have a great atmosphere. If you like, you can even create a seating plan so guests can sit next to someone they might not normally. Send hand-written invitations to make it feel like a truly special occasion.

Try a Different Location

Dinner parties don’t always need to take place in a dining room. If it’s a wonderful summer’s day, then why not bring the party outside? You could even set the table up in a conservatory for a bright yet cosy setting. Cover your wicker conservatory furniture in luxurious throws or get hold of some chair covers to bring a sense of glamour to the occasion.

Floral Touches and Sweet Scents

Once you’ve dressed the table to a high-standard, add some flowers for the perfect finishing touch. Fresh flowers not only brighten up the setting but also add a soft scent to the room. To really set the mood for the evening, you might want to spray some fragrance around the table that will last all night. A soft rose scent would work well.

The Perfect Dinner Party Menu

When thinking about how to throw a dinner party, the menu should be at the top of your list. Don’t experiment with the dishes, sometimes it’s best to stick to what you know. Cook your favourite dishes that are full of flavour, something you know your guests will enjoy. Remember that some of your guests may have special dirty requirements or intolerances that you’ll need to prepare for. Ask for this information on the RSVP.   Furthermore, don’t forget about the wine and soft drinks! Running out of alcohol is a no-no at dinner parties. So have some reserves in the fridge at all times.

Classy Yet Fun Entertainment

You can’t host a dinner party without providing some entertainment for your guests! You don’t have to go too eccentric. A few board games or quiz questions is likely to perk them up after filling themselves with tasty food. If it’s a particularly grand occasion, you may even wish to invite a singer and acoustic guitarist to help set the tone well into the night.
