Light Bright room with white colour scheme in a longer orangery with open patio doors into the garden at the back

Add Interest to Your Walls

A simple measure but by updating your artwork, this can really lift your room and give it a refreshed feel. Try swapping your current piece out for a light, bright theme in hues or watercourse that compliment your colour scheme. Summer colours always give your orangery a fresh and summery vibe.

Go Green

As your orangery is almost an extension of your garden, there is nothing better than adding some greenery to the space. The sign of summer is green grass and flowers in bloom so make sure you bring that beauty inside. An arrangement of stunning foliage adds a chilled and relaxed feel to any interior. You can also bring the outside in with plenty of fresh cut flowers that look, feel and smell like summer. From blue and green to purple and pink, hydrangeas in their many colours are a versatile choice, but you can’t go wrong with crisp white to refresh any scheme. Above all else, these green changes are a quick, cheap and simple change to bring some life to your room.

Lighter Fabrics

Whilst loads of textured throws, cushions and rugs add comfort and warmth in the winter, summer warrants those lighter fabrics that are welcoming and cooling to a room. It doesn’t get more summery than white linens, light blues and accent colours of yellow and orange. Pair these with curtains or drapes as well as some new cushions.

Rework Your Layout

All of the added sun gives you a perfect opportunity to rethink your usual furniture arrangement. With all of the great natural light coming into your orangery, it gives you the chance to change the room up for the best possible season view. Rearrange your seating layout to make the most of your windows or patio doors so that the room has a natural room and will also provide a great space for entertaining for those much-loved summer long night gatherings. Organic textures such as driftwood, cane or rattan furniture mixed with a cheery colour scheme will make your orangery the most popular place this summer.

Dim Those Lights!

Why not try softening the lighting in your room and let the natural light do the work. If you combine tone down lighting with the lush light from your windows this with providing you with a beautiful and calming setting for you to enjoy those long summer evenings in. Open up those skylights and get the most out of the weather whilst you kick back and enjoy it all from the comfortable of your conservatory furniture suite.

The sun is back and it’s time you started to make the most out of your outdoor space by creating the ultimate chilled out comfort zone. The ideal place to relax and take in those rays, just follow these simple exterior design tips and achieve that garden haven that you can enjoy all summer long.

Focus on A Spot in The Shade

As much as we all long for the sunny days, we all know that after a few hours we crave a bit of shade for a brief break. A nice patch of shade can make all the difference when It comes to relaxing and when sitting down for some food or a drink, it is a welcome rest. Try creating a seating arrangement that offers respite from the rays utilising an umbrella or foliage to block out some of the sun. If it’s a new garden you’re creating, you could plan ahead of time by installing a plant scheme that gives you the shade you’d want.

Opt for Unrivalled Comfort

As we’ve mentioned previously on the blog, the outdoor room is one of the highly-tipped trends for this year and is quickly becoming the norm’ in households across the nation. It’s all about finding that luxury outdoor furniture sofa set that is practical yet offers five-star comfort. Take our Winchester range, for example, its cushioned seating offers a perfect place to snuggle up in the sun! Winchester with tan lavastone table

Keep Some Privacy

Want to keep those pesky neighbours out? Invest in some horizontal panels, fences or a trellis to keep a small seating area secluded. The added privacy will make you feel more at home and by installing a few modern partitions, you’ll not only bring your garden into the 21st century but it won’t overshadow the rest of your exterior.

Don’t Be Tight on The Cushions

Adding more cushions to your setting makes such a difference when it comes to creating the chilled-out setting. Invest in some fresh, bright summery colours for some instant cheer and scatter them across your seating so that your guests can sink into relaxation. Just remember to invest in some specially designed cushions that are made with fabrics for outdoor use!

Why Not Try Artificial Grass?

Ever considered fake grass? Well, it has grown in popularity over the last few years and there is a good reason why. Soft to touch, easy to maintain and permanently looks good, why wouldn’t you want some? If you have a small paved patio, swap those slabs out for some artificial grass and instantly transform your garden into somewhere you can sunbathe and enjoy. The need for watering, mowing or weeding will be gone, meaning you’ll have more time to chill out!

Dine in Delight

Something we love in the summer, what is better than eating outside with friends and family! When you invest in a quality rattan furniture sofa and table, it instantly gives you the freedom to host and entertain all summer long. When you invest in a good-sized range, like our Atlanta range, it will mean that everyone can gather around in comfort and you don’t have to dig out those old, tatty emergency chairs! Spring has officially sprung, meaning longer, sunnier days and hopefully warmer temperatures! With this in mind getting your garden summer ready, means when the sun does come for good, you can enjoy it in all its glory.

Create a Communal Space

The best way to start transforming your outdoor space is to create a space that family and friends can also enjoy, allowing for maximum time spent outdoors with your loved ones. Investing in a key furniture piece that will comfortably sit a number of guests, and add a touch of elegance and sophistication is a sure fire way to impress. The Winchester Range is perfect for doing just this, ensuring to create a focal point of any garden.

Use Your Surroundings

If you’re blessed with a rich, luscious green garden then utilising your natural surroundings is a simple way to add light and character. Trees are rarely put to use at night so utilising them by adding fairy lights, lanterns or decorative flourishes are a nice personal touch. They also look super pretty. If your outdoor space is not tree laden, lights wrapped around building structures or lanterns placed on wall space can look equally charming.

Mix it Up

No matter what your preferred furniture style, the incorporation of patterns and colours can help pull all the different pieces you may have together to create a well thought out and chic look. Particularly for rattan furniture, cushions and different fabric patterns can add variety and allows you to put your personal touch into the piece.

Mirror Mirror

Think mirrors are strictly an indoor piece? Think again. The addition of a mirror can make a dramatic difference to your outdoor space, for an easy immediate impact. Big, or small, whatever size you prefer, adding a mirror expands your space and is an effortless way of adding a touch of style to your space.

Throw Some Serious Shade

If you’re lucky enough to have space to play with, investing in a jumbo umbrella could be the answer, being a great way to cover a large area of patio whilst also depending on how loud you go, appealing to the eye. Jumbo umbrellas not only protect us from the sun’s harmful rays, but unlike normal sized umbrellas, they are able to shelter and protect all your furniture pieces, like added seating benches, or tables.

Colour it In

If your outdoor space is lacking colour, think about investing in a wooden planter filled with your brightening plants of choice, for a chic addition to your garden. You can stand these on a patio, or lawn depending on what space you’re working with, or which you prefer. It’s worth thinking about what kind of plants you want, and what effect you’re hoping for. Raised planters are particularly effective against pets, and those pesky pests! If you already have old plant pots or planters stored away somewhere, you could consider giving them a lick of paint and a new lease of life. This is a great way of adding a pop of colour to your space without breaking the bank.
