Design Guru Derek Taylor’s Tricks of the Trade

In last week’s popular ‘Sixty Minute Makeover’ programme on ITV, designer and presenter Derek Taylor showed how blurring room boundaries expands the home and brings the outside in.

Derek, who designs interiors for celebrities like Patsy Palmer, Phil Tufnell and Ronnie O'Sullivan, used Desser & Co’s elegant colonial style Elmy suite to help transform a conservatory in a sixty minute makeover challenge.

Celebrating its 90th year in business, fourth generation boss Mark Stewart, says:

“Adding a conservatory is a very canny way of increasing the size of your home without the cost and worry of moving. Cane and rattan furniture is a great way to make the most of the current trend to blend room boundaries and blur the line between outside and inside. Conservatories are a year round extension to the house, creating an inner cocoon from where bright winter days can be enjoyed as well as in the summer to take advantage of those long light evenings. And at this time of the year they are a great way of expanding the house to fit family and friends at Christmas.”
